ACEP CHICAGO 2008 UCLA EMERGENCY MEDICINE EVENTS
SENIOR DINNER/CELEBRATION OCTOBER 28, 2008, 8:30PM to ??? ---- ALUMNI AND FRIENDS MIXER OCTOBER 28, 2008 6 PM - 7:30 PM
Fellow Faculty/Alumni and Friends,
Many of you would have liked to celebrate the SUPER SENIOR CLASS in style last year at Seattle's Triple Door Restaurant -- but couldn't because it was scheduled on Wednesday, and many people we're leaving ACEP that day.
So, after the tremendous positive response and suggestions from Faculty/alumni and residents in Seattle last year, the Residency will offer TWO events on TUESDAY OCTOBER 28, 2008. We hope to see all of you at either or both. Make ACEP TUESDAY EVENING the night you reconnect with UCLA, our Residency, and your classmates -- old and new.
The Warm Up Event:
UCLA Mixer, HILTON CHICAGO, Private Dining Room 4, 3rd Floor, TUESDAY OCTOBER 28 6PM to 7:30 PM
Warm up for the main event at Sushi Samba with UCLA friends old and new at a private reception on the 3rd floor of the main ACEP Conference Hotel, the Hilton Chicago. 'Featured Local MicroBrews' will complement an OPEN BAR featuring premium liquors and 'Chicago Bar Snacks.'
This event it FREE to UCLA alumni, graduates and friends, but REGISTRATION is required (mostly so we don't run out of beer and booze -- hey, aren't THOSE 'chicago bar snacks?') so PLEASE RSVP TO LISA and bring your digital camera to gather proof of how much better you've aged than your classmates.
The Main Event:
SENIOR DINNER CELEBRATION AND DINNER PARTY AT SUSHI SAMBA, TUESDAY OCTOBER 28 at 8:30 PM
The senior ACEP extravaganza will be on TUESDAY OCTOBER 28th at 8:30 PM in Chicago.
The residency, under the direction of our 'head of catering and den-mother' Lisa Waltz, has arranged for a night you won't forget, in one of Chicago's coolest and hottest restaurants!
Come and celebrate the newest Alumni (almost) of our training program.
Come toast them, hug them, hire them!
UCLA's Best ER residents, faculty and friends will have the 'Red Room' for cocktails and dinner at the Chicago SUSHI SAMBA, located at 504 North Wells Street:
Sushi Samba's Red Room
At the Bar
SUSHI SAMBA, is a 'fusion' restaurant, that features the best of Japanese, Peruvian and Brazilian cuisine and culture -- a result of the immigration of Japanese agricultural workers to South American coffee plantations in the early 20th century.
It combines the fun of the 'Carnival' culture with the best of fresh seafoods, South American meats and spices, and of course, a healthy respect for a full bar that runs from Sake to Rum, great beer to Piscos Sours and Mojitos.

Sushi Samba, in Chicago, in October...just kidding. Aren't you glad you did your residency in Los Angeles?
This place threatens to knock last year's Seattle Super Party off it's throne as the best senior dinner ever: We've moved it to TUESDAY so that more alumni, faculty, friends and prospective employers will still be in town to join us and celebrate the SUPER SENIOR CLASS. The seniors have worked hard, they've earned it.
Come help them toast their future with:Cocktails ...with Full Open Bar and specialty drinks like Lemon Samurai, Piscos Sours and Mojitos...

"The Samba Juice"
"Midwestern" Hospitality
Open Raw Bar featuring King Crab Leg, Chilled Lobster, Shrimp, Little Neck Clams, Oysters like Malpeque, Kumamoto, Fanny Bay and of course...Passed Sushi...
With Sushi Samba's Fresh Seviches -- yellowtail Sashimi Seviche -- ginger, garlic & soy; Lobster Sashimi Seviche -- mango & lime; Tuna Sashimi Seviche -- grapefruit juice, red jalapeño & almond; King Salmon Sashimi Seviche --guava, carrot & mojito splash...and...

MEAT!!!
...An Endless Selection of Grilled Brazilian Meats: hanger steak, ribeye, pork tenderloin, chorizo & lingüiça with malagueta pepper oil & chimichurri...
Seafood and Veggie Main Courses...
Chocolate Fondue and Small Bite Desserts...home made ice creams...
Oh, and did I mention Full Open Bar? Yes, yes I did. Chicago features excellent cab service and public transportation for all sensible drinkers!
Here are a couple reviews of the place:
And here's Sushi Samba's web page:
Click on the upper left drop down menu 'Restaurant' to select the 'Rio Chicago' location, and then browse away! If you click "gallery and see our space" you can click on 'dining room and mod pit' which will open a cool 'flash tour' of the restaurant.
It is important that we know exactly who will be there -- we will accomodate as many faculty, friends and alumni as possible -- RESERVE EARLY AND DON'T MISS IT! The BEST residency party in town!
So: email Lisa directly with your RSVP BEFORE 9/27!
